Pick of the day 3/3 by: Ace
Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good day yesterday. My only pick was Sporting Braga, and they won 1:0, so that was excellent.
Today we have a lot more to aim for, with ten games in the championship, three games in the premier league and one interesting game in the coppa italia.
Championship has been kind of wild lately, with the top teams having trouble getting three points, it's very clear that the bottom teams have really started fighting for their survival a bit more, getting to know themselves and playing some decent football.
The first pick is Cardiff - Barnsley, in the english championship. I would definently go for a home win here. The welsh side is a strong home side while Barnsley is one of the worst away teams, having won only four and losing ten and drawing two. Cardiff have been on a downtrend lately, but that is mainly because they've had some good opponents (wolves, QPR, Arsenal in the FA cup). Cardiff are a bit behind in their match schedule, with the closest team above having played 35 games, while Cardiff have only played 32 games. If they win tonight they will move two spots up the table, which puts them on a qualifying position.
My second pick is the over 2.5 goals in West Bromwich vs. Arsenal. Arsenal have been goalless for a couple of games now, only scoring once in their last five (against Roma). They have a very offensive team, with a lot of firepower, and will certainly go for the win in this game. On the other hand, west bromwich must take every chance they can to get some points in order to keep from relegation. At the moment they are dead last in the league, with two consecutive losses at home. I don't think west brom will go for one point at their home ground, they'll go for three, and this could be a very exciting game if there is an early goal.
My third pick of the day is Nottingham Forrest - Preston North end, home win. Nottingham have showed that they can play good football, and they had an excellent run in the middle of the table with 7 games unbeaten, which is very good for a side that is just above relegation, and that only shows that they CAN play football at their best. Since then they've had a tough schedule with the midlands derby against Derby, both in the FA cup and in the championship. They played QPR, Birmingham, Ipswich away and Cardiff and Reading. The last game they actually beat Reading away from home with 1-0,which could be an indication that they're on the rise again. They desperately need the points in order to escape relegation, and when facing a very weak Preston north end on the road (only 3 victorys so far), I think they can collect all three points. It's a very valuable bet, since the home side is currently valued at 2.50.
My last pick of the day is Liverpool - Sunderland under 2.5 goals. Sunderland have really got their defence under controll with the new manager, having only conceded 2 goals in their last three games, with an impressive 0-0 result at Emirates stadium, goalkepper fulop is really something extra and can keep this game to a tie, possibly a 0-0 result.
Liverpool on the other hand have had serious troubles in the premiership lately, especially with their scoring. And now Robbie Keane is sold, Fernando Torres is injured and Steven Gerrard is out of shape, their is just not players enough to score 2 or more goals. I think this game will be a close one, with sunderland being very defensive. Liverpool could score once, possibly but not likely, twice. I see a game that will end somewhere around 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 1-1.
